i got this clock for christmas from my older brother. when i was in elementary and mid school, i had a thing for dolphins.

right now, it just seems like time is flying by! i can't believe it. i'll be having my 25th birthday in less than a month! where has the time gone? will it be before i know it i'll be celebrating my 75th birthday?

i kind of have this thing about cute frogs.

i love em. this is one of several figurines of frogs.

i think i had gotten this a few years ago during valentines.

i got this bear for myself one valentine's day. i tell johnathan what i like and what i want but he always does his own thing and gets me something else. so most of the time, i get myself what i want for valentine's day. :)

i haven't actually done any type of theme month or week while doing this project. i know i mentioned doing that in the beginning but sometimes it was just easier to not do it that way.

i'm getting into the home stretch here. i have less than 65 days left on this project and i'm struggling. i took last week off just because... well... i really dont have an excuse except to say i just didn't do it.

i'm coming back this week strong... at least i hope so. this week will be cute things. that'll be my theme. cute things.

so the snow is getting to that stage where it's melting, then an hour later freezing. i hate snow!

on top of that, we never got around to putting our deck furniture away for the winter.

gosh, the snow hit overnight.

it was soooo deep.

went to sleep and it was chilly outside.

woke up in the morning to snow that was knee deep.

when it first snows, i dont find it so bad.

it's everything afterwards:

the cold,

the ice,

the slippery roads,

the cold soaked feet, t

he muddy roads.

ugh. just ugh.

but while everything was still clean and pristine,

snowy the kid emerged.

my family came over to our house this year for our christmas celebration. johnathan and i were getting tired of the same old thing every time we have a family dinner. it's always the same dishes for easter, fourth of july, thanksgiving, and christmas. this year we decided to have mexican food.

it was sooo delicious. we had enchiladas, tamales, carne asada, posole, etc. so yummy!

i got a sewing machine from the black friday sales and i had been experimenting making quilts. i've only started small with baby quilts. i made one for my youngest niece for christmas. it was the second one ever that i made and i totally loved it.

since we didn't have anyone coming over christmas day

(we didn't all get together until the day after christmas),

we went and watched

watched the old one since and i've gotta say

the newer version is much better.

christmas eve.

usually we have our christmas on christmas eve

because my oldest brother who's a fire fighter has to work.

this year, he had to work christmas eve

AND christmas day.

i went into town to do some last minute christmas shopping.

I KNOW!

i'm super crazy and some would call me super dumb.

trust me, i know.

i usually call those that wait until the last minute dumb.

 i was definitely calling myself dumb.

although, it was no fault of mine.

johnathan and i decided

really late the day before christmas eve that we were going to get

each other two gifts this year.

that's what we usually do and we each get to open

one on christmas day and one when we have christmas with my family.

we didn't think we'd get to do that this year because of finances.

i'm back at school and not working so

that puts a little bit of a strain on our financial situation.

and that sucks.

but johnathan actually got a christmas bonus

from work this year which was really unexpected.

his employers used to do that yearly but since the recession hit,

the most their workers get for christmas is a

$15 giftcard to walmart.

which, admittedly,

is more than what most people get from their employers.

but i was driving back home when i saw this sign. 

it always puts a smile on my face

when i see it on my way home.

so my best friend, bree, has been selling shirts that she designs on etsy.

she got some girls to model the shirts for her for the picture on the site.

i swear,

just looking at the pictures of things being sold on etsy

usually makes me wanna buy

whatever is in the picture.

anyway,

she had a shoot with the girls and invited me to tag along.

you might recognize the girl in this picture

from a previous picture i took

titled "black parade".

bree and i did a shoot with her a few months ago-

in late july i think it was.

she's really photogenic and beyond gorgeous.

she'd gotten a new tattoo on her shoulder

since the last time i'd seen her.

it's really cool and i like it a lot but

i wouldn't have gotten it for myself.

but it's still awesome.

we got a new christmas tree last year sometime in february.

we'd had our little bitty christmas tree since the first christmas we were on our own together.

it was time for an upgrade.

i remember a few years ago when my sister was still married to her ex.

they were doing well financially and that christmas we had dinner at her house.

i remember looking at this huge christmas tree with twinkling white lights

and being slightly envious but also deteremined

to one day have a tree just as gorgeous.

of course, i'm always trying to do this on the cheap. my dad calls me a "bargain hunter",

a title i was always getting teased about by my little brother.

anyway, we got this huge pre-lite christmas tree from sears last year for a major major steal!

in fact,

i think it was cheaper than our original tiny tree.

putting the damn thing together was the fastest part of the whole putting-the-tree-together process. afterwards,

 it was branching the branches out (which took foreeeever!),

 then decorating the dang thing with ornaments.

it's january 11th right now and the damn tree is still sitting in our front room.

be careful what you ask for because it just might come true.

i love forever21 stores. i wish farmington had at least one. they have such cute stuff at really good prices. i always come out with jewelry of some sort.

i was walking through the jewelry racks when i saw these earrings. right off the bat, they reminded me of my sister. i ended up getting them for her since they're totally her style. i almost kept them for myself but i couldnt picture myself wearing them.

we got this a while back from the flea market. it sits on our entertainment center. a few christmases ago we bought one for johnathan grandma since she collects porcelain dolls and we thought something like this would be a good addition.

we almost didnt give it to her... well, I almost didnt give it to her cuz i wanted to keep it for myself. those make the best gifts, the ones you dont wanna give up. at least i think so.

when we got back from albuquerque, someone went on a cleaning spree... and it wasn't me.

but the floors were nice and sparkly. i like sparkley floors. :)
