so, my orginial picture was just of the bedpost. it was already 11 o'clock and we were in bed falling asleep when i remembered that i hadn't taken my pic of the day. since i'm sure that once i let one slide, i'll start letting it slide all the time, i forced myself from bed and took a quick pic of the bedpost.

that's when we heard it outside...

stupid raccoons were getting into the trash again. the poor neighborhood cat's been getting the rap for the stupid raccoons but we caught them red handed.

johnathan was looking out the window and said three of them were going toward the backdoor side of the house. we started sneaking around the house (we didn't turn on any lights and we were tiptoeing cuz johnathan kept saying "shhh!"). anyway, he grabs the broom and heads for the backdoor. i followed him but realized i wasn't gonna get any action. i told him "i'll take the front."

i went to the front door, slipped on some flip flops and grabbed the nearest weapon which happened to be the christmas wrapping paper sitting by the door. i flipped the front porch light on and took off like a bat out of hell onto the deck.

i saw two little raccoon heads pop up from the back of johnathan's truck. caught you red handed suckas!! so i ran down the stairs and towards the truck. by the time i'd gotten there one had just jumped out the back and ran underneath my car and the other was just getting ready to crawl out of the truck. i revved up and smacked that raccoon in the face with the wrapping paper!

it hissed at me, i screamed and ran back up the stairs. i was more concerned with the one underneath my car coming out and attacking my legs since i was in my nightgown and flip flops.

johnathan finally comes barging out the front door in his chalas and tennies still carrying the broom. meanwhile, i'm standing on the porch, straining to keep an eye on the raccoons, shaking, my heart tripping over itself, and laughingly repeating (a little stupidly) "i smacked it in it's face... i smacked it in it's face..."

we waited outside for a few minutes to see if they'd come back before i went to check underneath the vehicles. armed with a wind up flashlight, i bravely went off the deck... and screamed at every shadow and the noise johnathan made at the deck while constantly asking "do raccoons attack?" constantly thinking about the comment johnathan had made earlier (before we left the house) about raccoons being vicious and how they'd probably kill roxy if we let her loose to fight with them. who's idea was it to let roxy loose to fight with rabid raccoons anyway?! who said anything about roxy fighting raccoons??

anywho, no raccoons. we went back inside but couldn't stop laughing. we laid in bed for a good 45 minutes laughing and coming up with scenarios of when the two trash raccoons and the three backdoor raccoons met up in the ditch.

trash raccoon 1: i was just going along, minding my own business

when *WHAM* the bitch hit me in the face!

*backdoor raccoons gasp*

omg, it was soooo freakin hilarious! and johnathan kept quoting forrest gump when he says

"coons? when coons come on the back porch,

so today i went up to vallecito lake with some friends to help do a twilight shoot. it was soooo pretty up there but the weather was a little icky. it was cloudy and thundering and started to rain halfway through.

i think i wanna take johnathan up there maybe this weekend if he doesn't work. maybe we can go swimming. the water looked so good and there were some beachy areas. i haven't been up there since we had the employee appreciation picnic there a few years ago. i forgot how beautiful it is up there.

toni and i painted my bedroom pink yesterday. i know! PINK! it's a really lovely pink color though with sparlies in the paint. ♥

i told johnathan that i wanted to paint the bedroom and cover up the ugly dark red that we had in there. i originally was gonna do a champaign color but found the pink instead. john was alright with it as long as i didn't paint the livingroom pink he said.

well, the paint got on everyone that was in the house, minus my dad. first, baby got a hold of the lid and proceeded to get the paint all over her

1) face,

2) overalls (which i had just bought for her from a yard sale a few days ago), aaand

3) my furniture, plus

4) the carpet

it all came off everything pretty easy since we caught her before it all dried. i think the overalls may be toast though. oh well, they were only 50 cents.

then toni was getting off the lady carrying the paint tray when it hit the top of the ladder and knocked out of her hands right on her! luckily she was standing on the drop cloth so my carpet was saved. but she got it in her hair and all over the front of her.

then baby got into the actual paint bucket and tray. she tipped over the bucket and was playing with it. luckily there was only a thin layer at the bottom of the bucket and she was on the drop cloth. but again, she took another vigorous bath in the sink.

then roxy and kitty got involved.

kitty kept going for the rollers and paint brushes... as we were using them! i found pink paint in her whiskers today.

roxy kept side swiping the wet walls. she's got paint on her ears and down her side. she'll have to be shaved and cut (which i'm ashamed to say i still have not done...)

so yesterday i was painting the baby, sister, dog, and kitty pink. if i were queen, i'd totally be painting the roses pink.

i went to a benefit concert type thing with a few friends the other day. some of the bands/singers were good, some not so good but overall i had a lot of fun.

the best thing i took away from the event? this picture and all those yummy fries! i'm not saying that the guy singing is mine or that i'm saying i'm his but he was singing the song "i'm yours" by jason mraz when i snapped this photo. he was one of the good singers, i thought.

p/s: the person in the pic taking the video on her phone is not me but my bestie, bree.

i had a shot in mind that i wanted to get but i got caught up talking to my dad that before i knew it it was already dark. couldn't get it because it was an outside shot.

so i ended up snapping this before turning off the lights and heading to bed. we got this lamp from a friend as a housewarming gift when we first moved into our house.

oh my god, i love cameos and pearls. and when i find something that has both- be still my little heart!

i was out jean-shopping today and, ugh, that was a disaster. i swear! all i find now are skinny jeans (i only need one pair in the basic color, thank you). i hate that i can't find good jeans! every single pair i come across is holey! i mean, come on!! why would i want to buy a pair of worn out, holey jeans? if i'm gonna spend money on clothes, especially for how much jean companies are charging, i want a pair of nice NEW jeans.

i ended up buying the almost-perfect pair. but i've decided to take it back today since they're way too long. that's another thing! the 'regular' size are too long and the 'short' size are too short.

GRRR!

i came across this necklace when i went back the store where i bought said jeans to see if they had a 'short' size. scored this beauty for $2! yeah!

i've been working on this blanket for the last two weeks. it's fairly easy and i don't know why it took me so long to finish it.

i've been blowing through books like crazy since i really don't have anything else to do since school is over until the end of august. my dad moved back in a few weeks ago but we more or less keep to ourselves most of the time. i'm crocheting like crazy as well as reading like crazy.

i have lots of books left to read... the ones featured in this pic is about half of them. i promised johnathan that i wouldnt get anymore books for a while until i finish these. UNLESS, it's a release by a few of my fav authors- kresley cole, karen marie moning, gena showalter, lora leigh, lara adrian, sherrilyn kenyon.

okay... so that's more than a few but the good news for johnathan is that they've all recently released something so i cant expect anything for a few months yet. i think the earliest book due out is the end of august. =*(

i took my dad to gallup so he could take care of some business. it was hot and dirty there. i hate gallup, i dont know how anyone can live there. bleh!

anyway, on the way back, we stopped in tohatchi. this old trading post is about a mile from the highway. we've passed by it so many times when we used to take my grandma to the clinic in tohatchi.

tohatchi is navajo for to' haa ch'i' which means "to dig for water".

so i've been having an "ugly betty" marathon. it's been showing on the tvguide channel for the past week and a half but it's all out of order and i just heard the other day that the show was getting cancelled.

when i first started working in ignacio, i started watching "ugly betty" on the internet at work. i didn't have anything else to do but answer phones. i believe it was on it's second season so i watched the whole first season and watched the second one as it was coming out.

i'm sad to say that i didnt get to watch the 3rd or 4th season cuz i got promoted.

aaanyway, so i've been watching it on the tvguide channel and like i said it was all out of order. found the shows on abc.com and got caught up on the whole 4th season over the weekend. i just watched the last show- the season finale a few minutes ago. i'm so bummed that the show is cancelled!! i think i'll be giggling for a few more days over the show though. if you've ever watched it you'll know why. the writing was just so funny! =*(

anyway, it's because of the "ugly betty" marathon that my doggy is still shaggy by the weekend's end. poor puppy can barely see through her bangs. johnathan keeps saying i should give her a mohawk.

we went out to dinner with my dad the last night. this was my fav pic from that. he just looks soooo good! i love it when he does that thing with his eyebrow when he looks at me. *sighs*

anyway, it was a good dinner. the waitress asked us if we had just gotten married. she was a little surprised that we'd been married for seven years. she said we seem like newlyweds. ♥

this is our neighbors little boy. he has the most amazing colored eyes and fittingly enough, his name is orion.

we went next door cuz johnathan wanted to help the guy with his deck a little bit. this little guy was out there, too and kept getting into the nails.

seriously, i couldn't get over the color of his eyes. the editing i did on the picture kind of down plays the color a bit but the real thing is beautiful.

there are times when i can barely get a picture i think is good enough for my picture of the day. then there are other times when i have like 5 or 6 really good ones and the choosing is so hard to do. last night was one of those times when i had several good pictures. i dont know why i decided to go with this picture. maybe cuz i'm stuck at home all day and have to wait another month before we can actually go somewhere...?

(by the way, these aren't our license plates. there was a place downtown that had has a bunch of these up on their fence).

there was this thing going on last night across the river called "blues, brews, & bbq." what drew us over was the music. we could hear it wafting over the river to our house. so we stopped by and it was pretty cool. they had this stage set up and this really amazing blues band playing. the lead singers voice was pretty much awesome.

there were a lot of drunk people dancing and i'd have like to sit there longer watching them make fools of themselves. the thing about drunk people is they generally don't mind making fools of themselves.

they had a bunch of stands set up and whatnot. this was my favorite picture of the night- the twisted tater.

i got these vines from a nursery in durango called "native roots" last week. they've been sitting in pots on the deck the whole time since i was waiting for johnathan to finish staining the deck and put up the trellises as skirting.

i had originally scouted these vines out specifically because they grow very well around these parts. so i checked out prices at the nursery and went back at the end of the week. i got them for half the price because of some sale they were having.

needless to say, i rock. =)

so i finally found the energy to get off my lazy behind and plant them yesterday. the guy at the nursery said they could grow up to five feet in one month. we'll see what they look like by fall. hopefully they take.

we've been sitting outside for the past couple of nights. it's been soooooo nice, i cant believe it and i don't want it to end. it's been cloudy with a hint of rain in the air and a bit breezy. a nice cool breeze that keeps the mosquitos away.

anyway, i was sitting there playing with my camera, experimenting with shooting at night. i ended up with this picture which i thought was pretty cool. the lights are from the softball fields (there was a game going on and we could hear the cheering in the distance). just the whole ambiance of the picture is amazing.

a few friends of mine who live out in california now came by to see us the other night. they were home because their mom was having a sqaw dance and they had to help out.

anyway, one of them had a baby last year and this is the first time i've seen her since she was born. i can't believe how big she's gotten. i dont know why i'm always so surprised to see kids and babies get big since the last time i'd seen them. i dont know why i expect them to still be the same size.

so the baby in the picture's name is "palis." when johnathan and i first heard it, we kinda just looked at each other and said "o-kay." when you ask the couple how the picked the name, they say the dad heard it in a dream.

.... again, "o-kay."

i love the pose the baby is in. can't get enough of it.

so today was my daddy's birthday. i didn't go to class but i spent all day with him. it was just a review day because tomorrow is our final exam and the professor said we weren't required to be there.

so i spent the day being my dad's taxi service. i meant to get up early today and go to the gym in farmington to work out... but i didn't. i wanted sleep a little bit more, okay? but daddy had doctor's appts to go to and his car isn't running so good (why am i not surprised?) so i took him to his appts.

we had gotten him this little cake yesterday. i think he thought we forgot about his birthday because we didn't say anything to him about it all day.

i took a few pictures and couldnt settle on just one. i think i'm entitled to more than one considering the occasion, don't you?

we are so bad about judging whether a cat is a boy or a girl. we're always mistaken and this new kitty is no exception.

so we've been calling it a "he" this whole time. my sister said if it had junk on the outside it was a boy. obviously, we don't know what junk is and have been calling poor kitty a boy this whole time. we found out "he" was really a boy.

how did we find out? he came out from the couch (his special hiding place... at least until he's too big to crawl under there which won't be too much longer). anyway, he came out wearing a bow!

no, not really. toni came over and she double checked and told us he was a girl. the bow was my little touch. hey, don't judge those who dress up their animals. i mean, look at how cuuuute she is!

i was watering the plants this morning and saw this little guy when i went to turn the spout off. it's weird cuz i saw a cup with pinnochio on it yesterday and was just thinking about jiminy cricket.

my neice, riya, begged me to take her to see eclipse today. i hadn't planned on going to watch it again (even though i desperately wanted to after seeing it during the midnight screening on tuesday night).

i met up with toni, riya, and the baby today for lunch. they came in specifically to have lunch with me since i wanted to go to a chinese restuarant they like that johnathan can't stand.

anyway, riya and i started talking about twilight and she begged and begged. so we stopped by the theaters to see how crowded it was and we ended up buying tickets. the movie was still just as good but the crowd pissed me off. there were like three babies in there that kept crying. okay, seriously, why the hell are you bringing your baby to a theater? then phones kept ringing left and right and TWICE two different people next to us answered their freaking phone in the middle of the movie! THEN there was a stupid peanut gallery sitting right behind us. two older ladies and one of them had to keep explaining what was happening in the movie and why to the other because only one of them had read the books, or watched the other movies. and it wasn't like whispering but like full blown conversations. then the retarded one kept asking "what did he/she say/do/mean?"

ugh. just ugh.

aaanyway, i love that riya is wearing her twilight shirt. okay. i need to get a twilight shirt now. official fan here.

so roxy and kitty have been getting along a little bit better now. they play and chase each other around. roxy seems unsure of herself a lot of the time, like she doesn't quite know how to play with something that small. it almost seems like she's afraid of hurting kitty. sometimes, when kitty takes her by surprise, roxy freaks out and gets scared.

anyway, here she is all pooped out after a run in with kitty. of course kitty was still raring to go.

we bought this water fountain over the weekend. i think i really got it for a steal. it's plastic, but like... the heavy kind of plastic. totally doesn't look plastic though.
